Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal

The Bolyai Institute of the University of Szeged is pleased to announce hereby that the Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal for the year 2002 has been awarded to

László Leindler, Professor of the University of Szeged.

Over four decades, László Leindler has published 60 definitive research papers in the Acta Scientiarum Mathematicarum. In these papers he has solved several hard problems in the fields of Approximation Theory, Fourier Series, Orthogonal Series, and Inequalities. His results have been frequently quoted in monographs and nearly 800 papers worldwide.

The Medal was presented to László Leindler at 14:00, November 14, 2002 in the Bolyai Institute. On this occasion he delivered a lecture ``My work and memories".
