Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal

The Bolyai Institute of the University of Szeged is pleased to announce hereby that the Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal for the year 2004 has been awarded to

Ferenc Móricz, Professor of the University of Szeged, Hungary.

Over four decades, Ferenc Móricz has published 42 definitive research papers in the Acta Scientiarum Mathematicarum. In these papers he solved several hard problems in the fields of Fourier analysis and approximation theory of functions in several variables, convergence and divergence of multiple sequences, and strong limit theorems in both classical and noncommutative probability. His results have been quoted in more than 800 papers worldwide.

The Medal was presented to Ferenc Móricz at 14:00, December 2, 2004 in the Bolyai Institute. On this occasion he delivered a lecture ``Orthogonality in the classical and noncommutative analizis".
