Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal

Year 2011

The Bolyai Institute of the University of Szeged is pleased to announce hereby that the Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal for the year 2011 has been awarded to

László Zsidó, Professor of the University of Rome ``Tor Vergata'', Italy.

Since 1969 László Zsidó has contributed six definitive research papers to Acta Scientiarum Mathematicarum, mainly on operator theory and operator algebras. Two of them contain relevant results on topics on which B. Sz.-Nagy had pivotal achievements: similarity of bounded operator groups to unitary groups and minimal extrapolation with Fourier transforms.

The Medal was presented to László Zsidó at 15:00, February 16, 2012 in the Bolyai Institute. On this occasion he delivered a lecture ``Order structures in Hilbert spaces".
