Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal

The Bolyai Institute of the University of Szeged is pleased to announce hereby that the Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal for the year 2016 has been awarded to

Gábor Czédli, Professor of the University of Szeged, Hungary.

Gábor Czédli has made significant contributions to lattice theory and to some related topics in universal algebra. His results on semimodular lattices, congruences of lattices, and lattices with few generators are worth separate mentioning. Since 1979, he has published sixteen definitive research papers in Acta Scientiarum Mathematicarum, and two additional ones are accepted for publication.

The Medal was presented to Gábor Czédli at 15:00, November 17, 2016 in the Bolyai Institute. On this occasion he delivered a lecture ``From congruence lattices to the locally convex geometry of circles".
