Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal

The Bolyai Institute of the University of Szeged is pleased to announce hereby that the Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy Medal for the year 2006 has been awarded to

Béla Csákány, Professor of the University of Szeged, Szeged, Hungary.

Since 1962, Béla Csákány published fourteen definitive research papers in Acta Scientiarum Mathematicarum. These papers initiated important directions in universal algebra, including module-like varieties, finite algebras with large automorphism groups, and minimal clones. His results laid the foundations of a new research group in Szeged.

The Medal was presented to Béla Csákány at 15:00, December 7, 2007 in the Bolyai Institute. On this occasion he delivered a lecture ``Varietas delectat".
